[The troops are lined up. Their Major is addressing them. His aide stands at one end of the line.]
Major – Gentlemen. We, at HQ, are desperately concerned for your welfare. The situation is grim, and we cannot afford dissent. This war may be Under-equipped, Unethical, and damn stupid – but we must fight it, and we must fight it well – or it will be the worse for everybody involved.
Soldier [interrupts] – Without proper equipment!?
Major – You may well ask, what about the equipment! It may be true that you are given less than you need. It may also be true that you are asked to do more than is possible. The terrible pressures of war are no stranger to us. We at HQ have thought long and hard, and we’ve come up with a solution guaranteed to promote morale. You will each be issued with one of these.
[His aide proceeds along the line, handing each man a credit card sized piece of plastic.]
Major [VO] – British Army Loyalty Points are redeemable at all munitions outlets. Get saving, men!
